getting vacation-ready!

Pretty soon we'll be heading to the mountains for a little hiking, reading, fishing, playing and visiting friends in the "city" a la Denver… here's how I'm hoping the vaca will go!

Modern-Day Mama!

My good friend Meg is starting up a bookclub with some girls and the first book we've decided to read is "Torn: True Stories of Kids, Career and the conflict of Modern Motherhood." It should be a great read something that I know myself and other friends have been conflicted over. I'll let you know how it goes. It was highlighted by The New York Times and I think recently discussed on The Today Show, why not jump on the bandwagon.

I got the book yesterday from Amazon and I'm already on page 47…

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

What a big day! So thankful for all of the father's my life: my Heavenly Father, My Dad (Grand Dad), Papa, Grandpa Erwin + Grandpa Al. Especially my husband Andy- you are a fantastic Dad.

Little by Little

I've been continuing my interest in proverbs, this is a french one:
"little by little the bird builds its nest." I only have the french printed in my vintage woodtype with some of my old lead type decorative elements. Next I'll be adding an English translation along the side and a visual element. This is just in progress, but like the Proverb says…"little by little."

Those darn Italian proverbs

So I'm working on a set of various proverbs some french, italian, etc. and I found this Sicilian proverb and I'm not too fond of it: "A woman in her thirties, throw her into the sea." I guess my time is up!

starting gymnastics today at chow's (round two)!

charlotte started gymnastics last summer and loved every minute of it. This year will be more of the same except she moved up to the three + four-year old class so I don't have to bear crawl too…
Since you can't take photos in the gym this will have to do :)

Americana

Last night Stephanie, Joel, Andy + myself tried out a new hot spot in Des Moines, Americana. It was good. The city needs a few more places like Gusto, Americana, Centro + Star Bar. The menu was fun and the interior had a good vibe…we'll be back!
